THANKSGIVING DAY

Thanksgiving Day is observed each year in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November. The observance is a time when families and friends gather and give thanks for many reasons, each often as different as each person who gathers around the table.

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that many acknowledge today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. However, it wasn’t until 1863, amid the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

The Village of Manley is looking to hire seasonal help with snow removal. Current pay will be $15/hour with equipment provided by the village. "Christmas at Leon's" is returning to the Lofte stage! It’s Christmas Eve and a busload of troubled passengers seeks refuge at Leon’s Diner while waiting out a snowstorm. With a little Angelic help the travelers have a chance to reach their destinations with a renewed Christmas spirit. Last produced on the Lofte stage in 2012, join us at Leon’s once again for an evening of laughter and song.

Performances are December 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, and 19. Showtime is 7:00 on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and 2:00 on Sundays. Doors will open one hour before the show starts. Masks are required but may be removed when in your seat while eating and drinking only. Social distanced seating is available.

BLOOD AND PLATELET DONORS NEEDED

Wildfires, record-breaking heat and a busy hurricane season can also impact the nation’s blood supply. On top of the toll extreme weather events take on the lives of millions, disasters can cause blood drive closures or prevent donors from being able to give safely. Eligible donors can help overcome the critical need for blood and ensure blood is readily available by making an appointment to give by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.
